Knight Chair in Visual Journalism
Alberto Cairo is the Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at the University of Miami, after a career in journalism in Spain, Brazil and the U.S.

Cairo was director of infographics at El Mundo online and at Editora Globo. He's now a permanent visualization consultant for entities and companies such as Google and the Congressional Budget Office, and has taught and consulted in more than thirty countries in the past decade.

He's the author of the books How Charts Lie: Getting Smarter About Visual Information (to be published in the Fall of 2019 by W.W. Norton), The Truthful Art (PeachPit Press, 2016), and The Functional Art (PeachPit Press, 2012).
