David Scott is a deputy managing editor at The Associated Press, where he oversees the operations of its global newsroom – including software and technical tools, staffing, budget, outside partnerships and the AP Stylebook. He is also responsible for AP’s polling and survey research, include its Election Day decision desk, the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and AP VoteCast, the cooperative’s election survey and replacement for the in-person exit poll. Scott was AP’s U.S. political editor during the 2014 and 2016 elections, where he was part of the decision team that first called the presidency for Donald Trump and the Democratic nomination for Hillary Clinton. He is a former regional editor, state news editor and reporter at AP, where he began his career in 1999, and is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Scott is a passionate supporter of Arsenal Football Club and spends most of his time in New York trying to leave it for his home in Maine.
